Intel unveils their new ultra mobile platform

Intel has announced their new ultra mobile platform today. They have dubbed it IUMPC2007 (just rolls off the tongue doesn't it) or the 'Intel Ultra Mobile Platform 2007.'

The IUMPC2007 platform includes two different processing chips; the smaller 600MHz A100, and the slightly larger 800MHz A110. The new platform will utilize the 946GU Express Chipset with Intel GMA850 graphics. This will allow a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 and up to 1GB of DDR2 Memory. That's a lot of power to fit into your pocket.

We will likely start seeing these show up in UMPC and MID devices in the near future. Manufactures Aigo, Asus, Fujitsu, Haier, HTC and Samsung have all signed on to begin using the IUMPC2007 platform in upcoming devices. HTC announced that their highly-anticipated Shift will be using it as well.

To tide you over we've got some shots of a device running the IUMPC2008 platform which is codenamed 'Menlow.'
