How big is your living room?  I only ask, because Samsung has seemingly set its sights on filling it with as much TV as possible.  With their new F9 range they've (for the moment, anyway) secured the title of "largest commercially available LCD with LED backlighting," with a screen size of either 52" or a behemoth 70", while the F8 range may only come in 40" or 46" but that's still plenty big.

Still, big is beautiful and so are these displays.  Samsung's pretty damn proud of the Smart Lighting in the F9, which can selectively turn off parts of the LED backlight to boost contrast levels to a whopping 500,000:1, while the 100 hertz refresh on the F8 supposedly makes it ideal for fast-moving sports and film.  Both of course support 1080p high-definition and resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080, and among the HDMI, component and VGA inputs there's also a USB 2.0 socket for direct connection to a digital camera.

The F8 starts at €2,399 ($3,273) for the 40" and €2,999 ($4,092) for the 46", while the F9 comes in at €4,699 ($6,410) for the 52" and a staggering €39,999 ($54,567!) for the 70".
