HYT H3 Watch Uses New Hydro-Electrical Movement

Watches with a mechanical movement are very cool. The intricate little gears inside move under power that is usually created by winding and springs inside. Typically these mechanical movement watches have traditional hands that point to the time. The HYT H3 is a watch that has the latest iteration of a hydro-electrical movement that is something very different from what we are used to seeing on a watch.

With the hydro electrical movement, a small tube of fluid counts down the time for you rather than hands. HYT offers the H3 in a rectangular version that has a straight tube counting hours and minutes. A round version of the movement is also available that has the tube of fluid arranged around a traditional circular watchface.

The hydro-electric movement utilizes a combination of traditional watch movement with a pair of bellows that push colored liquid through a capillary tube. The H1 movement uses two vertical bellows to push liquid around a circular capillary with the H2 version using a V-shaped bellow configuration.

The H3 is the latest in the series, pushes the liquid in a straight line, and has a rotating four-hour dial and an articulated arm for telling minutes. This movement has a bellow on the left that pushes the liquid along a straight capillary and a second bellow on the right side that compensates as the fluid moves along the tube. HYT will make only 25 of the H3 watches launching in September at $290,000 each.
