Huawei Honor 5x comes to the UK, Honor 7 Premium coming soon

It isn't only in the US the Huawei's sub-brand Honor is coming on strong. In Europe, it is putting its best and most recent foot forward. The Honor 5x, which just launched in the US to relative success, at least according to honor, is also now available in the UK as well from Huawei's official store on Vmall. But not only that, Huawei will soon be making a reprise of its Honor 7 flagship. Now called the Honor 7 Premium, the smartphone will feature more storage and a fast charger out of the box.

To recap, the Honor 5x is a mid-range smartphone that boasts of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of expandable storage, topped by a 5.5-inch Full HD screen and powered by a generous 3,000 mAh battery. Despite being a mid-tier product, the smartphone flaunts a full metal unibody design more commonly found in premium smartphones. Plus, the multi-talented fingerprint scanner functions both as a security measure as well as additional gesture controls.

In the UK, the Huawei Honor 5x goes for $189.99 compared to the $199.99 price tag in the US. Buyers also get a 30 GBP bonus for every purchase, which includes a 10 GBP discount for the next Honor smartphone purchase.

Huawei also teased the upcoming arrival of the Honor 7 Premium. The original version launched mid-2015 and prefigured some of the features now found in the Honor 5x, like the premium metallic design and the multi-function fingerprint scanner. The Honor 7 is smaller in comparison, with a 5.2-inch Full HD screen, but packs quite a punch with a 2.2 GHz octa-core Kirin 935 CPU, 3 GB of RAM, a 20 megapixel main camera, and an even more generous 3,100 mAh battery.

Two things, however, marred the Honor 7's reputation. For one, it only had 16 GB of internal storage. And while it supported fast charging capabilities, the power brick it came with didn't. The Honor 7 Premium will fix those, with a 32 GB storage and a 9V/2A charger right inside the package. It will also come in two color options of Golden and a mysterious "Mystery Gray". No word on when that will happen, however, or how much it will cost.
