HTC Android device codenames unearthed in leaked ROM

The neat thing about leaked ROMs is that often there are tidbits about upcoming devices to be discovered among the tweaked functionality.  Supposedly buried in the recent Hero Android 2.1 ROM from HTC is a long string of device codenames, some of which – like the Hero and Dream – we've seen already, but many of which are new or, until now, merely rumored.

Among the devices is the Dragon – previously rumored to be the Android version of the Snapdragon-powered HTC HD2 – and the Memphis, which was believed to be abandoned a while back.  It's worth noting that these are just HTC handsets – that's where the ROM is said to be sourced from – so there's no mention of devices from other manufacturers.

"Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC, Hero, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, PassionC, Passion, Sapphire, Supersonic."

Android modder maxisma is credited with unearthing the names.  Now there's no saying that HTC will launch this many devices, but it's a sign that there are plenty more Android handsets from the company to come: we're guessing Mobile World Congress in February 2010 should have some surprises.
