HP Spectre x360 13 (2019) invigorates HP's most radical design

This year HP pulled out the stops when it came to their "best and brightest" with the HP Spectre x360 13 (for 2019). This is just the latest version of a laptop series HP's been improving upon each year since its introduction in March of 2015. Here in 2019, the design is very similar to the October 2018 version of the transforming laptop – but the bezels have been cut down considerably, giving the entire unit a 13% reduction in size.

This notebook has the option of rolling with HP's first 4K OLED 13-inch display, with 400-nit brightness and True Black HDR. Users can also opt for anti-reflective display coating, FHD display, and other configurations.

This notebook computer has several of HP's branded privacy features that it's been bringing to several business-oriented computers for a few seasons. That includes HP Sure View Privacy screen – it'll darken the display and reorient the configuration of the panel so that only the person looking from the user angle can see what's onscreen.

There's a Webcam Kill Switch on the side of the base. This is a "physical switch that cuts the power to your laptop webcam, making it unhackable." This notebook has a single-key mic mute, as well, making certain that nothing gets captured or recorded – save the keyboard's keystrokes and the touchpad's touches.

The HP Spectre x360 13 is expected to appear for sale online inside October 2019 (through HP.com) with a base configuration starting price of approximately $1,099 USD. There'll also be a version with a Nightfall Black casing with 16GB RAM, a 4K OLED display, and 1TB SSD with 32 GB Optane available from Best Buy online. That same source will have a Natural Silver version of this laptop with 8GB RAM, FHD display, and 512 GB SSD with 32 GB Optane.

UPDATE: the Sure View Gen3 optional built-in privacy screen (with up to 1,000 nits brightness) is expected to be available in January of 2020. Other configurations will begin to be available in October of 2019.
