Samsung has – at long last – revealed a full list of phones and tablets that will receive Android 7.0 Nougat. The list was actually revealed at the end of an announcement for the Galaxy S7's Nougat update. Of course, we already knew that Nougat was being sent out to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets, but it's nice to get official confirmation in any case.

Samsung confirmed today that Nougat will eventually come to the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Tab S2 (LTE Unlocked), and the Galaxy Note 5. We expected as much for those devices, as they're some of the more recent premium devices Samsung offers. Going beyond those, however, Samsung confirms that the Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8 will be getting Nougat as well.

That's a fairly beefy list, and even better is the fact that Samsung says all of these Nougat updates will arrive within the first half of 2017. Given Samsung's history when it comes to rolling out Nougat updates, that may prove to be a lofty goal. Still, it's good to have a time line in place, even if I'm personally a little skeptical that Samsung can get all of those updates out the door in the next six months.

As far as the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are concerned, Samsung says that the Nougat roll out for those phones actually began on January 17. It seems that, at first, only those who participated in the Nougat beta for the Galaxy S7 were receiving the final Nougat build. Now the floodgates have been opened to everyone, so watch for that OTA notification if you haven't received it already.

Now we're left waiting on Samsung to deliver the update to these other devices. If the plan is to have all of the devices listed above on Nougat by the end of the first half, then we should be seeing more updates rolling out shortly. Keep it here at SlashGear for more, because we'll let you know when Nougat begins arriving on other Samsung handsets.
