Google's souped-up Pixelbook Go with Core i7 and 4K display is now available

If you've been holding out for Google's top-end Pixelbook Go, then here's some good news: it's now available to order. The Pixelbook Go comes in a number of configurations that have been available for a little while now, but the most powerful configuration is just launching today. Keep in mind that you'll be dropping a significant amount of cash to own one, as the Pixelbook Go tops out at $1,399.

What do you get in exchange for that $1,400? For that price, Google will outfit your Pixelbook Go with a Core i7 processor and a 4K display, along with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In a laptop that's meant to be lightweight and portable, that might be overkill for most of the Pixelbook Go's target audience. Those souped-up specifications, however, mean that the Pixelbook Go could potentially be a more suitable replacement for heavily and bulkier laptops when it comes to some tasks.

The 4K Pixelbook Go joins three other configurations that cover a wide range of hardware. On the low-end, the Pixelbook Go comes with a Core m3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. Most consumers will probably want one of the two configurations in the middle, which both come with a Core i5 and 128GB of storage, with the main difference between the two being that one has 8GB of RAM and the other has 16GB.

In all cases (except the high-end model), the Pixelbook Go uses a 1080p display. In the 4K model, you'll get a 56 Wh battery – compared to the 47 Wh battery in the other models – that Google says will last up to 12 hours.

While we don't think too many people will opt for the high-end model, those of you who have your heart set on it can pick one up today. If you're on the fence, you can also check out our review of the Pixelbook Go to get a better idea if this device is the right one for you.
