Google My Tracks alternative apps swoop in

Google's app "My Tracks" has reached its end of life, the company preparing to phase out support starting on April 30th, 2016. This app won't just have an end of service at that time, it'll basically just stop working altogether. With Google My Tracks gone, users will have to move to better and/or more popular services before that time is up. OR they'll just have to stop tracking their runs, and run without knowing where they've gone, like in the olden days.Google has several options set up for My Tracks users that with to export their data. The good bit here is that Google is allowing users to continue to export their data with the app even after the cut-off date for functionality everywhere else.To export My Tracks data:

1. tap the My Tracks app

2. tap More ... settings

3. tap Sync to Google Drive

Another option:

1. tap the My Tracks app

2. tap the Main menu

3. tap More ... Export All

4. tap the format you'd like

Google notes the following about each format:

• KML: Contains locations, markers, photos, and sensor data

• GPX: Contains locations and markers, but no sensor data like heart rate, cadence for biking, cadence for running, and power

• CSV: Contains locations, markers, and sensor data

• TCX :Contains locations, no markers, and some sensor data

There are a whole bunch of apps out there that do very similar things to Google's own My Tracks. In fact, Google has made a tiny list of apps that are active now and show no signs of slowing down any time soon.
