Google mum on Android L name, but confirms it as 5.0

Android L is coming. Even if we don't know what it will be named, or when it will really come out, we know it's coming. More to the point, Google knows we know it's coming, and they know we know they know it's coming. Now that we're all in some sort of tech-y spy-vs-spy espionage standoff, Google has taken to YouTube, producing a video that shows how they picked their new mascot. No offense to whoever wins, but we're going with Oreo. Someday.

The video is a good bit of fun, and only proves Google is having a laugh at all the hype. Android Ladyfinger, though?

Yeah, alright, I'd still use it, but still — no.

The casting call video rifles through all the possibilities before hinting we'll all finally be done with Android 4.anything. Tucked behind a door labelled as "5.0", the finalists are likely duking it out. That means all we've seen in this video are rejects!

Seriously, I was kind of pulling for Ladyfinger.

For now, the sweet treats are left to languish in the rejected room, snacking on sweet treats. In case you were wondering, yes, we zoomed in on the table for clues. No, we didn't see Lollipops or licorice, but we did get hungry. Not gonna lie, I kind of want some gingerbread cookies right about now.

So who's behind door number 5.0? Is it Lollipop? Is there a licorice monster in there, gaming on his awesome new Nexus 9 tablet with a Tegra K1? We don't know, but with all this Google-y hype, we should find out very soon.
