The Fortnite event you're missing right now

This week at the gaming convention Gamescom there's an Epic Games booth mostly devoted to Fortnite. At this booth there's a massive mob of Fortnite fans, and they're not going anywhere any time soon. If you live in Germany, anywhere near Cologne, you might want to consider taking turn on over – if you can get in, that is to say. Imagine if this booth were your basement gaming den – just THINK about it.

If only your mother and father had the wherewithal to install such a masterpiece in your bedroom. If only they'd allow an add-on to the house, or had the cash to buy a whole separate apartment room just for this. This is what an Epic Games presentation of the biggest game in the world (in this genre) is all about. This is Fortnite encapsulated.

Above and below you'll see a set of photos and/or videos and/or moving images depicting the Fortnite booth at Gamescom 2018. This booth is "mobbed," per Epic Games Technical Director, Engine Partnerships, Joe Graf. He's there and he's flabberghasted – in a good way? In a good way, probably.

Earlier today after just a few minutes of open-time, the Fortnite booth was heavily infested by the likes of gamers from all corners of the earth. Here you'll see a bunch of t-shirts being launched into the crowd as gamers looked on in joy. Oh, the pure pleasure of getting a bit of clothing emblazoned by your game of choice! Oh, the rapture!

ABOVE: The most amazing cosplay accessory yet seen on a Fortnite-related amalgamation of elements. If you don't have one, ask Epic Games's @ZakParrish on Twitter – I'm sure he's got extra!

Assuming you're not already in the mix, take heed – this sort of presentation is almost certainly coming your way in the weeks and months ahead. Watch local listings for game-focused conventions near you, and check whether Epic Games is attending. This being one of the biggest titles they've ever released, there's absolutely no way they're coming to a convention empty-handed. Or with hands empty of Fortnite swag.

Would you like Epic Games to host a Fortnite event such as this near you? Even if there's no gaming convention to be had?
