Galaxy Note 10 first leaks look massive

Before the Samsung Galaxy S10 is revealed to the world in early 2019, we've got to start in on rumors for the Galaxy Note 10. What better way to prepare for the next big hero phone than to pour over leaks of the phone that'll come after that? The next Note, as it were, was tipped this week to come with a significantly larger display than in previous releases – but with a body that's not enlarged an equivalent amount. How can this be?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10, apparently given the nickname DaVinci in Samsung behind-the-scenes code, is tipped to have a 6.66-inch display. That's not just the number of the demon, it's a size that'll fit in just about the same sized body as before, with just a slightly smaller bezel. At the same time, it's still expected that Samsung will NOT be cutting their display out with a notch – not a notch as we know it, anyway.

OF NOTE: This tip about the increase in display size comes from the folks at Yesky in China who quote "sources quoted by the Korean media." While it is 3rd-hand information, it's well within the realm of possibility. Given Samsung's moves over the past several years and their upgrade schedule for hardware modifications to their most major smartphones, it would not be a shock whatsoever to find a Galaxy Note 10 sporting a 6.66-inch display.

Meanwhile the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a 6.4-inch display. As you'll see in the video below, the Galaxy Note 9's display still has a significant bezel around it – especially above and below the display. It's fairly easy to see where slight changes could make a big impact.

In the image at the head of this article, I've modified an original photo captured by Chris Davies (also of SlashGear). The original photo was the Galaxy Note 9. All I did was to make everything but the display a little bit smaller than it was before, then I made the display slightly less wide than it was before, and moved some elements around in the display to compensate.

I saw a few similar images floating around over the last couple days, and they do indeed appear to show a Galaxy Note 10, but not with any more clout than the post-photo editing I've done above.

When you start to see images like what's presented above shown as the Galaxy Note 10, just know: It is NOT difficult to do a quick edit of a Galaxy Note 9. It's not going to be difficult to make an image of the Galaxy Note 10 using previously-released Galaxy Notes and Galaxy S9 units. Not until the Galaxy S10 is released and wrenches are thrown into every wall socket and gear!
