Samsung has a lot of smartphones but very few of them ever reach the US market. Samsung often reserves only the high-end Galaxy S series and few odds and ends, keeping the rest for the international market. It is surprising, then, that Samsung would suddenly bring one its Galaxy A phones to the US and not the most memorable one at that. But that is exactly what's happening to the Galaxy A30 that popped up on some retailers with a US warranty, though the caveats might make some interested buyers reconsider.

The Galaxy A30, along with the Galaxy A50, arrived under the shadow of the Galaxy S10 at MWC 2019 last February. It bore very little resemblance to the more expensive trio in design or in specs. That's not to say, however, that the Galaxy A30 doesn't have anything to offer.

It's one of the few Galaxy A series phones that bears Samsung's "Infinity-U" waterdrop notch design, for one. It runs on an octa-core processor and has, at least in the US models, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The dual camera system has a 16 megapixel main sensor and a 5 megapixel ultra-wide camera. The front, on the other hand, has a 16 megapixel camera. All of this is powered by a rather generous 4,000 mAh battery.

While you might be able to buy a Galaxy A30 from international retailers, those might not be guaranteed to work on US networks. This Galaxy A30 does but, unfortunately, only works on GSM networks. That means AT&T and T-Mobile are in but Verizon and Sprint are out.

The Samsung Galaxy A30 is available on Newegg for $229.99 in Black, Blue, and White colors with a 30-day warranty as well as a 30-day return policy. B&H Photo sells it for a higher $249.99 but it does have a longer 1-year limited warranty.
