Fortnite season 4 launch date revealed: The meteors are about to land [Update]

It's safe to say that Fortnite season 3 has been an eventful one. The season was essentially defined by the appearance of meteors in the skies above the in-game map, leading to a lot of speculation about what will happen they land. Though many people were expecting those meteors to collide with the map at various points throughout season 3, they ultimately stayed in the sky. They won't be up there for long, however, as Epic has confirmed the start date for season 4, and in doing so, it has seemingly confirmed when those meteors will make landfall as well.

Earlier today, Epic took to Fortnite's official Twitter account to announce that today is the final full day of season 3, with season 4 kicking off tomorrow. It also shared one final teaser image before season 4 gets underway, and it shows a group of characters standing at the edge of what appears to be a crater. As if that wasn't enough to confirm that the meteors will be landing with the arrival of season 4, the tweet also tells players to "brace for impact."

So, it's pretty clear that those meteors will come crashing down to Earth very soon. Where are they going to land? Are they going to destroy any of the map's named areas? Is this the last day we'll be able to drop at Tilted Towers? No one knows, but it seems like everyone has a guess.

Throughout the past week, Epic has been teasing Fortnite season 4 with a variety of different images that appear to show superhero-themed skins. Perhaps season 4 will be themed around superheroes defending the world of Fortnite from alien invaders? No one knows at this point, but you can bet that the player base is ready to discover what those meteors are going to do.

Getting players even more hyped for the start of season 4 is the fact that meteors have already started hitting the ground in-game. We don't have an official start time for season 4 just yet, but we'll keep an ear to the ground for more. What do you think is going to happen? Head down to the comments section and let us know!

Update: Just a couple of minutes ago, Epic published a new tweet to Fortnite's official account. The tweet says that downtime for the season 4 update will begin at 4 AM Eastern time, so hopefully it won't be too long after that we'll get to see what has changed.
