Fortnite patch notes detail latest game mode: Disco Domination
A new Fortnite patch has arrived, and with comes a number of new additions to the game. Though last week's patch was a relatively small one, that's changing this week. Not only does this week's patch add a new weapon to the game, but it also launches a new limited-time game mode that seems to be a mash up between a dance off and traditional king of the hill.
That new limited-time game mode is called Disco Domination. In it, players will be split into two teams of 50, with respawning turned on until the final storm circle has been set. When the storm isn't moving, five dance floors will appear on the map – finding one and using a dance emote on it when there aren't any enemies around will begin the process of claiming it for your team. As more teammates dance on it, the speed at which it's claimed will increase.
The goal is not to eliminate everyone on the enemy team, but to rather fill up your dance bar. You'll do that by claiming and holding dance floors from the enemy team, and first team to fill up their dance bar completely wins. While you can't build on or over dance floors, you can build around them, so you and your team will be able to erect defenses to keep the enemy team out (or at least slow them down).
Aside from Disco Domination, this week's other new addition is the Quad Launcher. We first heard about the Quad Launcher earlier this week when Epic began teasing the item in-game. As expected, the Quad Launcher will only drop in epic and legendary varieties from chests, supply drops, and vending machines, so they definitely won't be common finds. The Quad Launcher allows you to fire four rockets in quick succession – not all at once – and each rocket does 80/84 damage (depending on rarity) with a 300 unit explosion radius.
In addition, the Port-a-Fortress has returned to the game, though its drop rate has been decreased. Speaking of drop rates, they've been adjusted for a number of different weapons, particularly sniper rifles and explosive weapons. You can see just how much they've changed – along with all of the other tweaks – by taking a look at Epic's full patch notes.
