Fortnite Account Merge Feature Delayed
Today Epic Games announced that the upcoming Account Linking / Account Merge feature was delayed. Users first heard about an Account Linking feature on 9.28.2018. For now, you'll just have to live with the Account Link part of this Account Merge party.
To take part in the Account Linking, follow the steps outlined by Epic Games back on the 28th of 9. This process will link multiple consoles to a single Epic Account – because you have so many consoles, you don't even know what to do with yourself! Future progression and purchases will then be available on any device of yours, everywhere, all at once.
OF IMPORTANT NOTE: This will NOT bring over existing purchases and progression from your other accounts; you will have to wait for the account merge feature in November for that. So says Epic Games – for reals!
On the bit where Account Merging will become a reality – that's not active just yet, and it won't be active until some time in 2019. This is due to what Epic Games describes as "some ongoing technical concerns." Epic Games suggested that they "want to make sure that this process is thoroughly tested and working properly before releasing it to those of you currently looking to transfer purchases from other accounts to your primary account."
Until you see an update here on SlashGear or straight through EpicGames dot com, be cautious. There'll be PLENTY of malicious people out there trying to gain access to your account before official merging is activated. Don't download any apps that suggest they'll be able to merge your accounts – they're not telling the truth, and they won't work. For now, stay courageous!
