Ford GT production increased to 1,350 units

Ford has announced that the popularity of the Ford GT has led it to increase production capacity for the cars by 350 units. The production run for the Ford GT will now total 1,350 units over a period of six years. Ford is opening its final owner application process for select global markets on November 8.

This will be the second time that Ford has re-opened the application process for the GT. All applicants that applied in the past to be allowed to purchase the car must modify their original applications or confirm it to be considered in the final application window for the car. Applications will be accepted for 20 days starting on November 8 at FordGT.com.

"The response to our Ford GT has been unprecedented, with initial demand outstripping supply by more than six-to-one," said Hermann Salenbauch, Ford Performance director. "By extending the Ford GT production run for a limited period, we're able to maintain the exclusivity of the ultra-desirable supercar while offering the ownership experience to a greater number of customers."

Applicants chosen to be allowed to spend their $450,000+ on the Ford GT will work with the Ford GT Concierge Service to personalize their cars to be produced in 2020 to 2022 calendar years. Production of the Ford GT began in 2016.

The car has a twin-turbo 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine making 647hp. It can run to a top speed of 216 mph and looks very good doing it. Ford says that demand has far exceeded availability and that was before the Ford GT gained LeMans glory in 2016.
