Final Fantasy XIV PS3 to PS4 upgrades kick off today

Final Fantasy XIV has been on the PS3 game console for a while now. Square Enix started talking about a PS4 version that would be coming to the next gen console and not too long ago the beta for that PS4 version of the game started up. One of the cool things that Square Enix is allowing for gamers that upgraded from the PS3 to the PS4 console is the ability to take the progress you made in your PS3 version with you.

Square Enix is allowing progress transfers from the PS3 to the PS4. Those transfers are officially available as of today. Gamers who want to migrate their progress from the PS3 to the PS4 can do so via the Mog Station.

One of the coolest things about this transfer is that you don't have to buy the PS4 version of FF14 to migrate to the new console. The catch to the migration is that it is permanent and once done, you can't go back to the PS3 to play. That means if you want to play on the PS3 and PS4, you need to buy two separate versions of the game and start your progress over on the PS3.

Upgrading requires the gamer to register the PS3 build to the Final Fantasy XIV account and then initiate the switch in Mog Station. Once this is done, all the account data, characters, in-game items, and other content is transferred. Square Enix will let gamers migrate their PS3 content until December 31, 2014.
