FiLMiC DoubleTake allows 2x separate camera capture at once on iPhone

Today the folks at FiLMiC released DoubleTake, an app that allows more than one camera to be used on an iPhone at once. DoubleTake was released as a sort of "early look" at what'll be released in the big FiLMiC Pro app in the near future. This app allows advanced features on "recent devices" like the iPhone XS, iPhone 11, and iPhone 11 Pro.

Multi-cam in DoubleTake allows the user of an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, or iPhone 11 Pro Max to capture both an "establishing shot" from far away, then "punch-in on your subject" simultaneously. Multi-cam allows the user of any combination of lenses with the latest set of iPhone devices for capture – all at the same time. Users can choose to integrate videos captured at once, or capture discrete video files – each saved individually.

Users can choose to integrate video with side-by-side video feeds, or with picture-in-picture (PiP). With PiP, the user can move the tiny feed around the screen or swipe away – all of this is recorded simultaneously.

With the app as released, DoubleTake allows the user to capture 1080p video at "high bitrate encoding for maximum quality." They also note that 1080p video is the current max resolution that Apple includes in their API for developers accessing multi-cam capture. In DoubleTake, when the user captures Composited PiP or separate video files recorded as .h264 movie files, they'll be saved to the app's own internal library – you'll need to export to camera roll from there.

Above you'll see the folks at FiLMiC Pro show the features of the DoubleTake app as it's launched here in January of 2020. They roll through the features of the app, including Camera Visualization, Shot/Reverse shot, Multi-Cam, PiP (Picture in Picture) or Discreet, Split-Screen, and Focus & Exposure Controls.

NOTE: If you'd like to use this app to broadcast, you'll find three options: 24fps, 25fps, and 30fps. This isn't necessarily true on every single camera, just the ones with the ability to capture at these specific frame rates.

The app "DoubleTake by FiLMiC" is a free app and allows a wide variety of abilities with an iOS device in order to draw attention to their app FiLMiC Pro.
