Field Trip For Google Glass Updated, Adds Voice Control

When Field Trip for Google Glass launched, it ushered in a neat way to find local oddities and points of interest for the unique headwear. What it lacked was a good way to interact with the service. It pushed cool info to you, but that was about it. Niantic Labs, the team behind Field Trip, has changed all that.

With today's update, Field Trip for Google Glass will now get voice commands built in. Taking advantage of Glass' form factor and Google's increasingly impressive voice recognition software, Field Trip will now allow users to ask for specifics on where to go and what to see.

By snapping the command "Okay Glass, explore nearby" you'll get the same interactive experience you find in the app proper. If you're not sure what you can ask Field Trip to do, the team says "Field Trip recommendation cards will continue to pop up on Glass based on each user's preferences and location".

If you have Glass and Field Trip, simply toggle the app off, then back on. Doing so will activate the voice commands feature, and you'll be on your way to true heads-up discovery of your surroundings. You can also customize Field Trip to only give you info on what you want to see and/or do, making it one of the go-to apps for Glass contextual awareness.
