Facebook Dating gets support for Instagram and Facebook Stories

Facebook Dating, the company's own alternative to Tinder and similar dating apps, has been updated with support for Facebook Stories and Instagram Stories. With this new capability, users can add Stories from either platform to their Facebook Dating profile, enabling viewers to get a better idea of their interests and what they're up to at the moment.READ: Facebook Dating wants to find you love without swiping

Facebook Dating is a relatively new platform that enables users to set up a dating profile with their image and other select details. The service is accessible under the 'Dating' icon found within the Facebook app; this is similar to how Marketplace and select other offerings are presented.

The Facebook Dating platform is only accessible on the company's Android and iOS mobile apps; you can't access it on desktop. The platform launched across 20 countries back in early September, including in the United States.

As we previously reported, users must be at least 18 years old to use the service, which draws from both the user's Facebook and Instagram accounts. Potential matches with other people are generated based on things like the user's interests, preferences, and other provided details.

Starting today, Stories are included among the content that can be shared on a Facebook Dating profile. The new ability makes Facebook Dating a bit more appealing for some users when compared to popular competitors like Match, which lack the same functionality. Stories remain vastly popular on Facebook, which reports more than a billion of them being shared across the company's ecosystem daily.
