Europeans who have been waiting to get their mitts on a VR headset that's made out of more than cardboard can now pre-order the Samsung gear VR. The VR headset is up for pre-order in some parts of Europe for €100. That matches well with the $100 price that Gear VR pre-orders are going for in the US since they kicked off a bit over a week ago.

The pre-order price is half as much as it cost to get hands on the original Gear VR when it launched in 2015 and that original version was offered in two sizes. One of the original sizes was made just for the Galaxy S6 and the other was made for the Note 5.

The new Gear VR is designed so that it is compatible with multiple phones making it possible to change phones and still enjoy your VR headset. The new Gear VR will fit devices including the S6, S6 Edge, Note 5, and S6 Edge+ smartphones.

Right now, the pre-orders in Europe have started with the Netherlands and Germany. Other Western European locations are expected to see pre-orders go live soon. The only significant downside to the Gear VR right now is that content meant to enjoy on the headset is scant, but that is expected to change soon. There is always a chicken and egg situation early in a new products lifecycle.
