Popular password management service Dashlane has just released an update for its iOS app that introduces Apple Watch compatibility. While looking up and reading passwords from your wrist is hardly ideal, it’s Dashlane’s flagship feature — one-touch password changer — that makes the Apple Watch app shine. That tool is how Dashlane differentiates itself from managers like 1Password and LastPass, automatically changing and updating passwords on websites with the touch of a single button.
The app update also marks the password changing feature’s first appearance on the iPhone as well. But like nearly all Apple Watch apps, the point is to be able to do something even quicker without having to take the phone out of your pocket. If you’re out and need to change a password, either because you feel your account on a site has been compromised, or maybe you hear news that the website has been hacked, a few taps on your wrist and your login info is changed.
As for how many websites Dashlane’s password changing is compatible with, it was compatible with 50 popular sites when it launched back in December, but that number has grown to over 200. The company says it plans to work with over 500 sites by the end of this year.
As of now, password changing is limited to Dashlane’s desktop and iOS apps, but they say they are working to bring the feature to Android before the end of the year.
