Capcom remasters, bundles 6 Disney Afternoon classic games

Capcom is really taking retro to heart. After it released the Mega Man Classic collection for PC and consoles, it brought it to mobile, though with less positive reception. It then recently announced that it will also be bringing four other classic arcade games to mobile, starting with top-down shooter 1942. Now it is going back full circle to PCs and consoles. Starting next month, those old enough to remember or the young who wish to experience those good old days will be able to turn back time to play six classic games based on old-school Disney TV afternoon shows.

Capcom's Disney Afternoon Collection is composed of 6 games spanning four beloved afternoon shows. Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 is a two-player co-op game where players can play either Chip or Dale in a frantic platformer action. Darkwing Duck is like the kid-friendly version of the caped crusader who uses his wits and charm to win the day. DuckTales and DuckTales 2 puts you in control of a pogo-riding Scrooge McDuck in the never-ending quest for treasure. And lastly, TaleSpin takes to the skies in shoot 'em up style as the lovable bear pilot Baloo.

Like its other retro work, Capcom didn't simply port these classic NES games to work on modern hardware. For one, the graphics have been remastered to 1080p, taking advantage of today's monitors and TVs. There's also a Rewind button that lets you backtrack and erase recent failures, something impossible with decades old gaming hardware.

There are also new modes that add a bit of flavor to the classic games. Time Attack, for example, pushes you to finish levels as fast as possible. But the clock isn't your only enemy, as you can also pit your record against other players via leaderboards. Boss Rush, on the other hand, gives you one boss fight after another, with nary a space for a breather. To prevent cheating, neither of these modes support the Rewind feature.

Capcom's The Disney Afternoon Collection launches on 18th April. It will be available on PCs, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $19.99. That bundle also includes a package of concept art, sketches, music, and more for those who really dig these timeless classics.
