Blizzard's 'Heroes of the Storm' arrives June 2

Blizzard has announced that its upcoming Heroes of the Storm game will be launching on June 2, and ahead of that debut will be open beta testing kicking off on May 19. Heroes of the Storm is a free-to-play online game for teams that pulls in "a diverse cast" of the maker's most iconic characters and pits them together in battle. There are different gameplay modes, customization options, ranked play for skilled players (and options for newbies), and much more.

When the game launches on June 2, it will bring with it in excess of 20 playable Heroes and seven dynamic Battlegrounds, and each of them are promised to have "unique challenges" the gamers will have to overcome. Blizzard promises that additional battlegrounds and Heroes will be coming to the game in the future, though it doesn't go into details about this.

Customization options will also be available, including things like using different skins, and there are also different mounts for getting across what ground one is on as fast as possible. There will be Cooperative game play modes, as well as Quick Match and some other options for gamers ranging from newbies to professionals and everyone between. The draft-style ranked play, says Blizzard, is for the skilled gamers out there.

Right before the game's launch, Blizzard is going to have a livestreaming event taking place in London. More details about that are promised to be inbound, but aren't available right now. The open beta, meanwhile, will be following the maker's Heroes of the Dorm tournament, which we previously detailed.
