Blizzard Has A New Diablo Project In The Works
It might not be long before we're playing a new Diablo game. Blizzard is hiring for a new, unannounced game in the Diablo franchise, leaving us to wonder if Diablo 4 might be in the works. If it is, the timing makes a lot of sense, as Blizzard seems to be winding down on Diablo 3 in general.
Blizzard is looking for an artist to help craft this game's dungeons. Sadly, the job listing over on Blizzard's career site is painfully lacking in specific details. There's no mention of a title to be found, though it does sound like this game could be more than just an expansion for Diablo 3.
"The minions of Hell are growing stronger...," the job listing reads. "We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled Dungeon Artist? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional." The person who gets the job will be responsible for "modeling and texturing compelling assets," for the game, specifically ones that fit Diablo's dark gothic theme.
That bit of flavor text in the job description seems to rule out the oft-rumored Switch port of Diablo 3 as well. Of course, it's impossible to tell just what this is, meaning that Blizzard could very well be talking about that port or a new expansion for Diablo 3. Given that Diablo 3 just turned six years old, though, Blizzard might feel that it's time to look toward the future of the series.
Who knows? Perhaps we'll get a Diablo 4 reveal at BlizzCon later this year? The timing would be right, as Blizzard didn't have anything new to report about Diablo at last year's event. We'll just have to sit tight and wait on Blizzard for official confirmation, but considering that it's just now filling what seem to be key positions, we might be waiting a while.
