BioShock Remastered arrives on Mac next week

The remastered edition of BioShock will be available to play on Mac starting next week, it has been revealed. The remastered edition will arrive in two different digital download stores, expanding the new release's initial launch on consoles and PC last year. The arrival comes alongside the iconic game's 10th anniversary, and is the first time the enhanced version has been available on Apple computers.

The remastered version of the BioShock games were revealed last year following multiple leaks; they're collectively sold as the BioShock: The Collection edition. The BioShock Remastered version for macOS appears to feature the enhanced version of the original BioShock game from that collection. The launch is coming from Feral, which announced the news earlier today.

August 22, the day that BioShock Remastered on Mac will be available, is the 10th anniversary of the original BioShock game, one that proved highly popular and spawned multiple sequels, not to mention the remastered editions that brought the titles to the latest consoles. The enhanced version launching on Mac will feature an updated 1080p resolution, says Feral.

BioShock transports players into an underwater world with a distinct 1960s veneer, one that itself is represented in the readily identifiable BioShock style that persists through the sequels. If you've never played the title before, now is absolutely the time to start. If you'd like to try it out but don't want to buy the full collection, the game is accessible through PlayStation Now as a streaming title (PC and PlayStation only).
