Battlefield 5 Release Date: Delayed! Here's Why

EA Games and DICE just revealed that they would be delaying the release of Battlefield V (or 5, however you want to put it), until a later date. The Battlefield 5 Beta seems to be rolling out on schedule, sort of, by appearing in Open Beta form starting on September 6th. That's soon, and now sadly far away from the final release date – which again, was ruthlessly delayed by the dastardly devs that wish to do nothing but good things to the game before it's ready for full release.

The statement from EA Games made by Oskar Gabrielson, General Manager of DICE, was long. It was clear they understood the importance of a solid release date, and that Battlefield fans are ravenous. They suggested that they're about to "make some meaningful improvements to the core gameplay experience" between now and then, and that this includes the following.

Tweaks in the mix for Battlefield V before November:

• Adjusted Gameplay Tempo

• Better Soldier Visibility

• Reduced Player Friction

• Increased Focus on Squad Play

• Further Revamped Player Movement

• Improving Weapons Handling

Some of these adjustments were started in the closed Beta for the game. Some are still yet to be released in the game for any player. More changes are likely as the Open Beta launches "just around the corner" with "millions" of additional players, so said DICE. "We fully expect to see even more feedback coming our way."

"We believe we have one of the best Battlefield games ever on our hands," said Gabrielson. "A game that will deliver on an emotional journey through the return of unseen single player War Stories, a deep multiplayer experience, Battle Royale, along with our new live service, Tides of War – a journey across multiple theaters of WW2 and designed to keep our community together."

"And that's why we're moving our launch date. We're going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War," said Gabrielson. "We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we're going to take our time to make sure we get it right."

The launch date – the release date – for Battlefield V is now November 20th, 2018. This gives devs for the game the time they need to tweak out and fix up the game to its full potential. We hope. Cross your fingers and cross your toes that this all works out.
