Battlefield 1 Open Beta Ends Later This Week
In the middle of last week, EA and DICE dropped their long-awaited Battlefield 1 multiplayer beta in our laps. The beta rolled out across Xbox One, PS4, and PC at the same time, giving players an early look at what to expect from the game's multiplayer component. There was just one problem: they never announced an end date.
Strange, indeed. Perhaps EA itself didn't know when it intended to end the beta? Whatever the reason, we have one now, with the Battlefield Twitter account announcing that the beta will come to a close later this week, on Thursday, September 8. That gives you Battlefield fanatics a couple more days to enjoy the beta.
If you enjoyed the beta, the good news is that you won't have to wait much longer for the full game to release. It launches across all three platforms on October 21, though don't expect any of the progress you made during the beta to carry over to the main game. Replying to another Twitter user, the official Twitter account for the game said that progress will be wiped before Battlefield 1 launches, meaning everyone will start on a level playing field once more.
EA and DICE have issued a patch for the beta as well, removing the time limits from the Conquest game mode and letting players duke it out until one team wins through point totals. Until the end of the beta, the two will also be stress testing the servers to make sure they're ready for the influx of players that will bombard them in the hours after launch. Server downtime is expected with these stress tests, so watch out for that.
Have you been getting some quality play time in with the Battlefield 1 beta, or are you waiting until launch to dig into the game's multiplayer mode?
