Yesterday, Disney began teasing the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. Infinity War is the culmination of 10 years of Marvel movies, so you can bet that fans are excited to see this initial trailer. If you’ve been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe up until this point, get ready, because Infinty War‘s first trailer is here and it’s definitely a exercise in fan service.
Of course, one of the most exciting things about Infinity Wars is that it brings groups of heroes who have so far been limited to separate movie franchises together. The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy will be fighting side-by-side in Infinity War, along with individual heroes like Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Ant Man.
The new trailer shows us most of these heroes, though some of them are noticeably absent. Some heroes look quite a bit different than the last time we saw them, as Captain America has grown a beard and Black Widow has decided to go blonde. Regardless of the few who are missing and the handful who look different, this trailer is great just because we get to see 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe side-by-side at long last.
The trailer also serves to give us a proper introduction to Thanos, a superpowered being who is looking to collect all of the Infinity Stones and use them to complete the Infinity Gauntlet. Doing so would make Thanos the most powerful being in the universe, capable of bending reality to his will. Naturally, it’s down to the Avengers and their merry band of heroes to stop him.
There’s good and bad news if this trailer gets your amped up. The bad news is that we’re still six months out from the release of Infinity War, which launches here in the US on May 4. The good news is that this is the beginning of what will certainly be a massive marketing campaign, so there are definitely more trailers coming up. Stay tuned.
