Avengers: Infinity War breaks ticket pre-sale records in just hours

Even if you've been living under a rock all weekend, you've still likely heard about the new trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. The latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and one that brings together the most heroes from the previous 18 films over the last ten years, hits theaters on April 27th. Alongside the new trailer's release on Friday, ticket pre-sales began, and Fandango has reported that Avengers: Infinity War has set a new record.

This all comes after Marvel's most recent box office hit, Black Panther. It was that film that Fandango said set a new record for ticket pre-sales ahead of its February release, before it went to make over $1 billion worldwide as of last weekend. However, Fandango has now revealed that Avengers: Infinity War pre-sales topped those for Black Panther in just six hours.

Fandango hasn't revealed any actual ticket sale numbers or revenue, mind you, but if the pattern from Black Panther continues, Avengers: Infinity War is well on its way to making a ton of money at the box office, and in turn being Marvel's most successful film yet.

It seems the movie studio also has Black Panther to thank for raising fan's interest in Avengers: Infinity War. Fandango says that out of 1,000 viewers surveyed, 71% had already seen Black Panther, with 60% noting that it "made them more excited to see Avengers: Infinity War."
