Audi RS Q3 performance rockets from naught to 62.1mph in 4.4 seconds
Audi has announced that it is taking orders for the RS Q3 performance compact SUV. The top of the line model packs a turbo 5-cylinder engine that makes 367hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. That is enough power and torque to push the RS Q3 performance to 100km/h (62.1mph) in 4.4 seconds. The little SUV can also reach a top speed of 167.8mph.
The engine used in the vehicle is a 2.5L TFSI unit and offers fuel consumption of 27.4 mpg [Note: that's on the European Cycle, which is different to US testing]. Power goes to the road via a 7-speed S-tronic transmission with a dual-clutch paddle shift action. The transmission has a dynamic mode where each gear change has a double-declutching action.
RS Q3 performance buyers get permanent Quattro AWD with a hydraulically actuated, electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. Performance buyers also get upgraded suspension lowering the body of the vehicle 20mm compared to standard Audi Q3 models. The suspension can also be optioned with damper control.
The blue color seen in the images is called Ascari blue and is exclusive to the RS performance models. The SUV also gets exclusive 20-inch wheels and red brake calipers. Buyers can opt for black brake calipers at no cost. RS Q3 performance will premiere officially at the Geneva Motor Show in March and can be ordered in Germany now starting at 61,000 euros. Deliveries will start in Q2 2016.
