Aston Martin Vanquish Zagatos Speedster and Shooting Brake bring the sexy

Aston Martin first pulled the wraps off the Vanquish Zagatos coupe in May of last year. That car was undeniably sexy and later a Volante version of the car turned up. Aston is now announced two more Zagatos cars to round out the quartet of offerings in the family and Aston saved the best for last. The two new version are the Vanquish Zagatos Speedster and Shooting Brake.

Aston has confirmed officially that the Speedster and Shooting Brake will enter production. The entire family of four models will produce only 325 cars combined. The last Zagatos to enter production was the drop top Volante and it was limited to only 99 units and all of them are sold. Deliveries of those cars are still taking place and will be complete sometime in 2018.

The rarest of all the Zagato models will be the Speedster with only 28 cars being made. The Speedster is an open top car and all of them are sold with deliveries set for 2018. The Shooting Brake, which is incredibly cool, will be built in a 99 unit run matching the coupe and Volante production numbers. It will enter production in 2018 with no word on when deliveries will begin.

While the body style of each of the four cars in the family will vary, they will all have the same 600PS naturally-aspirated V12 under the hood with a Touchtronic III transmission. Each model gets adaptive damping with settings tweaked specifically for each model and make extensive use of carbon fiber. Aston says that the boldest aspect of the Speedster design are the Speed Humps behind the driver and passenger that form streamlined cowls.

The Shooting Brake is a two-seater and the extended roof has glass inlays to let light into the cockpit. The rear tailgate is powered and the car ships with a tailored luggage set. Shooting Brake buyers also get herringbone carbon fiber fascia and anodized bronze rotary controls.

Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, said of the Vanquish Zagato family: "We haven't released Zagato models as a family before, at least not in this way, but the idea is not without precedent. Think back to the DB7 Zagato and DB AR1, or the V8 Zagato Coupe and Volante, for example. We've simply taken things a few steps further. Why create a family of Zagatos? Well, many of our customers want different things. Some prefer the purity of a Coupe, but others love the idea of something more extreme, like the Speedster. And yes, some of them have ordered one example of each. There's always an over-demand from our clients and patrons. We could easily fulfill demand for more cars than this, but we want Zagato to remain something very special. We're creating collectibles, future concours cars. With only 325 cars worldwide, divided between 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, 28 Speedsters and 99 Shooting Brakes – they are still the rarest of the rare."
