Apple Updates WWDC App With New Apple TV Version

With Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) just around the corner, the company released an updated version of its official companion app yesterday. Just like in previous years, the WWDC app continues to provide a schedule and maps for the June 13 – 17 event, along with access to watch the keynote presentation and developer sessions being live streamed. But new for this year is support for tvOS, allowing the app to be used on the latest Apple TV model.

Now at version 5.0, the WWDC app features a new dark UI, differing from last year's white theme, and for the first time is universal for iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. iPad users will also find support for iOS 9's Split View feature, while those with the new Apple TV will have access to stream or download WWDC videos from this year and previous years.

The annual conference will start off with a keynote presentation, where it's expected that Apple will offer first looks at iOS 10 and the next generation of OS X for the Mac, along with possible updates to tvOS and watchOS.

The WWDC app is free to download on the App Store, and requires iOS 9.3 or later. Some content, however, requires users to sign in with their developer membership.
