Apple unleashes OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 2

Apple today released the second developer preview for its next-gen operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. The latest OS was first revealed in detail back in February, but is not expected to launch until this summer. It will bring more iCloud integration along with several iOS 5 features to the Mac platform.

Today's OS X Mountain Lion Preview 2 has the build number 12A154q and is only available for download through the Mac App Store by registered developers that have obtained a redemption code from the Mac OS X Development Portal. Apple has posted a list of known issues and bugs for the new platform, as shown on TNW.

Some of the iOS 5 features to be woven into OS X Mountain Lion, include a Messages app similar to iMessage that will replace iChat on the Mac, a Reminders app that syncs with the same app on your iPhone, and a Notifications Center like the one introduced with iOS 5.
