Apple Store down: new products incoming

We're in line at the Apple Event this morning in California and the Apple Store has gone down. This means that new Apple hardware is fast approaching, and that it'll be available for order – or pre-order, at least – later today. This sort of down time has happened with essentially every major release of a product from Apple over the past several years, iPhone to iPad to MacBook Pro and back again. Today we'll expect some iPad Air, some Mac, and some Yosemite for sure – though that last one will come from your App Store, not Apple's online store.

In our most recent Apple event predictions article we had tips on several new elements. There may be a new MacBook Air – though that's the least likely of the bunch. There may be word of a new iMac for 2015, complete with 3D logo on its back – strange as that sounds.

There could be a couple new iPads coming in. That's highly likely as an official Apple guide leaked yesterday with the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3. Volume buttons, side switch, iSight camera on the back, microphones (two of them) and lighting connectors. The usual stuff. Both units have Touch ID, unlike previous releases.

And what about Beats? Could it be that this is the first Apple Event with Beats headphones on stage? Or will it be that Beats Music will remain in Apple Stores as the hip audio while never approaching an official Apple Event stage ever?

HomeKit will likely make an appearance, and very possibly through Apple TV. A full home automation center in this tiny unit, complete with access to CBS and HBO streaming services. Sound like the connection you're prepared to make? We shall see!
