The hack builds on the so-called "Spirit" jailbreak by comex.  Expectations for the first jailbreak of the iPad were high, given the fact that it's based on the same underlying iPhone OS as Apple's smartphone range; still, it's impressive that the iPhone Dev Team have managed to so do so early in the tablet's availability.

So far there's no public release, and based on previous jailbreak solutions it will probably take a while for a stable, straightforward client to be pushed out.  Want to know more on the iPad?  Check out the full SlashGear review.
