Android 2.1 For O2 Dell Streak Coming Sept 1st
O2 has apparently confirmed that it will be releasing the Android 2.1 Eclair update for the Dell Streak later this week, with the scheduled September launch of the new firmware taking place on Wednesday 1st. A bridging release while Dell polish their Android 2.2 Froyo build for the Streak, according to The Really Mobile Project Android 2.1 brings 720p HD video recording, live wallpaper support, native multitouch and speed boosts, among other things.
What's still unclear is how long it will be before we see Froyo reach the Streak, together with when we can expect an Android 2.x update for the US version of the tablet. Currently owners of the AT&T version are using Android 1.6, with no public comment from Dell as to when they might see that change.
