AMD Phenom II and Athlon II ranges get budget-concious newcomers

AMD have outed several new Phenom II and Athlon II processors, intended to sate the mainstream market.  The five new CPUs kick off from the AMD Athlon II X2 255, which runs at 3.1GHz with a 65W TDP, and climbs all the way to the AMD Phenom II X4 910e, a quadcore chip running at 2.6GHz with the same TDP.

In total there are three new Athlon II chips – the X2 255, X3 440 and X4 635 – and two new Phenom II chips – the X2 555 and X4 910e – with TDPs ranging from 65W to 95W.  All are Socket AM3 compatible and come in at under $170 a-piece (in fact three come in at under $100) when bought in 1,000 unit quantities.
