Amazon is holding a big sale on board games, strategy games, and family games, with a one day promotion that promises more than 40-percent off on select titles. The deal includes some of the most popular games in the retailer's catalog, including classics like Cranium and Trivial Pursuit, as well as newer board games and more.

Trivial Pursuit Master Edition, for instance, is down by $15, to $24.99 in today's promotion. Cranium, meanwhile, is even cheaper. It's down to $11.01 from its usual $15.

If strategy games are more your idea of fun, there are quite a few choices there, too. Hit game 7 Wonders is usually $49.99. However, for today only it's been reduced to $28. Not bad for a title with 4.5 stars average out of more than 1,400 ratings.

On the co-op and roleplaying side, meanwhile, are some of the biggest Amazon discounts. Arcadia Quest, for instance, is reduced to $52.99; normally, that would be retailing for a hundred bucks. Forbidden Island is another which gets consistently high reviews. Normally it's $17.99, but today Amazon is offering it for $8.99.

As for families looking for something to occupy the group, there are quite a few choices there. If Trivial Pursuit is a little more hard work than you'd like, there's Amazon exclusive Sorry, usually $22.99 but today reduced to 12.62. Ravensburger Labyrinth – which has the unexpected honor of a 5/5 rating from almost twelve hundred reviews – is $15.99, almost half price.

In all there are around 100 different games in Amazon's one day sale. Still, as the name implies, if you're interested you should probably jump on them sooner rather than later. The discounted pricing is only valid today, April 23.

Meanwhile, if you're more interested in video gaming, you might be curious about the Nintendo Switch's top ten indie games.
