AeroMobil 5.0 VTOL concept is an urban travel flying car

Way back in 2014 we talked about AeroMobil when it rolled out the AeroMobil 3.0 prototype flying car. That vehicle was a mix of car and airplane that took off like a conventional aircraft. It is back with a new concept called the AeroMobil 5.0 VTOL.

VTOL means that 5.0 concept can take off and land vertically like a helicopter. This opens many more options for landing and taking off that don't need an airport. The 5.0 VTOL comes after the 4.0 STOL or short take-off and landing concept.

The new 5.0 concept is a 4-seater flying taxi that can take off and land vertically but drive like a car as well. AeroMobil says that the 5.0 VTOL is aimed at urban travel while the AeroMobil 4.0 STOL aiming at intra-city travel. The dual rotors on the 5.0 VTOL concept are electric with thrust provided by an electric rear mounted push propeller.

AeroMobil is currently in the testing phase with the 4.0 STOL version of its flying car and is aiming at a range of 700 km per flight with that vehicle. It says that is more than twice the range of most VTOL aircraft. The wings and rotors swing out from the body of the car for flight mode in the AeroMobil 5.0 VTOL concept.

AeroMobil 5.0 VTOL will provide each of its four passengers with a personalized in-flight experience with flight or drive data, advanced communications, and media to keep passengers connected in flight. Safety systems include airbags cars are required to have, frontal automotive crass structure, and a parachute for in-flight issues.
