Add a little retro to your life: SpeckTone iPod Speaker System

Since I don't own an iPod, I'm legally obliged to be bitter and cynical about the broad range of accessories available for the iconic little blighter.  Today I will be lambasting speaker systems, with the broad sweeping generalisation that they all look like crap.  True, you can get round ones and square ones and spherical ones and even one in the shape of a big hoop, but they're generally plasticy and trying far too hard to look "Apple Cool".  And that goes just as much for the official Apple speaker system, too. Now, however, I've found a speaker dock that, while not changing my entire outlook, at least I'd allow to share living space with me.  It's called the SpeckTone and it looks like this:

Available in black, band-wagon white and gorgeously-retro green, SpeckTone is a high-gloss box of lacquered delight offering 28 watt output from the twin 3-inch drivers and 4-inch subwoofer.  There's a chunky volume knob that is backlit in green, a 1/8" mini-plug auxiliary input and it's all analogue inside so it doesn't sound like a cordless doorbell.

Available from Amazon, it retails for well under the $150 MRSP and is compatible with 4G, 5G, Nano and Mini iPod models.
