2022 Rivian R1T Gallery

Rivian's R1T promises a lot. More, you might think, than is necessarily wise for a brand new automaker working on its first all-electric EV. A starting price under $70k, quad electric motors, 300+ miles of range, and technology to put traditional truck-makers to shame are some serious ambitions.

The resulting pickup, though, feels like more than the sum of its parts. Rivian's skateboard electric architecture helps there, a platform which integrates torque vectoring, air suspension, adaptive dampers, and the four electric motors. It'll be the same underpinning to the upcoming Rivian R1S, an SUV which the automaker will offer in both 5- and 7-seat configurations.

Factor in a high-quality cabin – packed with environmentally-friendly materials, like vegan leather and recycled microfiber – and a slick touchscreen interface, along with niceties like 800+ horsepower and 900+ lb-ft of torque, and the value proposition starts to make a whole lot more sense. Deliveries are beginning toward the end of 2021, and come early 2022 Rivian will have a more affordable, R1T Explore trim that comes in at $67,500 before the US federal tax incentive.
