2020 BMW X5 M50i And X7 M50i Gallery
SUVs are the big sellers these days, and so what is BMW's M division to do but turn its attention to squeezing more performance out of trucks. The 2020 BMW X5 M50i and X7 M50i are the fruits of those labors, each packing the automaker's V8 twin-turbo engine for a healthy 530 horsepower. In the case of the X5 M50i, that's sufficient for a 0-60 mph run of just 4.1 seconds.
The bigger, heavier X7 M50i follows on shortly after, taking 4.5 seconds to do the same thing. Top speed is 155 mph with summer sports tires, and a reprogrammed eight-speed transmission is standard. If you have the Active Cruise Control option installed, the gearbox will even take into account the upcoming topography of the road to decide its next preemptive shift.
All-wheel drive is standard, unsurprisingly. The X5 M50i gets Adaptive M Suspension and air suspension as an option; the X7 M50i packs the air suspension as standard. Throw on a body kit, special wheels, and some extra glitz in the cabin and you're looking at quite the dashing SUVs. They'll go on sale in the US in late 2019.
