2018 Mercedes CLS Caught Testing With Little Camo
Mercedes is always at work on something luxurious or sporty, at times both. Not long ago we talked about the Mercedes-AMG CLS53 and now we have our best look yet at the 2018 Mercedes CLS that AMG version is based on. The CLS in these images was caught testing in Europe and while it is wearing some camo, this is as naked as the car has been seen.
The official debut of the CLS is expected to happen in a few weeks so this may well be our best look at the 2018 CLS before the big unveil. The car is a big 4-door sedan that skirts the gap between the E-Class and the S-Class cars. The car appears to be near production form and is said to be on 19-inch wheels.
The car certainly looks very good behind the light camo, the grill and headlights look particularly sporty. The windows on the back doors look larger than the previous CLS hinting that the back doors are longer. That in itself suggest more rear seat space and legroom, which is a good thing.
The CLS looks good form all angles and the back is very different from previous versions of the car. The image that shows the interior here is said to be from an earlier prototype, but it is expected to be similar. The official launch of the car is expected to come at the Frankfurt Motor Show kicking off next month.
Mercedes has already talked up what it plans to show off at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and it will be big. One of the cars on display is to be the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar. That is the first car to bring real F1 hybrid technology to the road. Also at the show will be the GLC F-Cell EQ fuel cell car and world premiers of the S-Class coupe and Cabriolet.
