2016 Audi A6 And A7 Unveiled: New Engine, Design Boost And More

Audi has taken the wraps off its 2016 A6 and A7, and with them come new front and rear designs joined by a new 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder engine for the A6 and overall "significant engine updates" across both models. In-car technology has received a related boost in functionality and options, and driver assistance systems are in place to augment one's driving experience. Both models are set to make their U.S. debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later on this month.

The auto maker promises both 2016 models feature better performance and more technology over the last model year, with both sedans offering an "athletic, taut design" replete with things like the new LED headlights featured in the gallery below, trapezoidal tailpipes, new interior design options (complete with massage-equipped seats and carbon fiber inserts), and Singleframe bumper/grill.

The new TFSI engine for the A6 boasts 252HP and 273 lb. ft. of torque, being offered in FWD with the seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission. The S tronic has been redesigned for less energy draw via the inclusion of an electric lubrication pump and system. The A7, meanwhile, is said to have the same transmission and engines as the A6/S6 models, differing with different calibration for transmission shift points, stability control, and more.

As mentioned, both models have driver assistance systems that boost driving experience, including things like improved Active Lane Assist and Audi Side Assist, Second Collision Assist, an optional HUD, and more. Joining this is the Modular Infotainment Platform boasting NVIDIA tech and 4G LTE with hotspot functionality.
