Zepp Play Soccer uses a sensor and app to track player stats

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the entire world and Zepp has a new way to track player stats and bring more insight into the game. The new system is called Zepp Play Soccer and it uses a sensor that is worn in a calf sleeve by players and an app on the sidelines to track player stats and create real-time game reports using auto-clip tech. The company says that the system is perfect for all skill levels and the sensor tracks stat on sprints, kicks, and total active time.

The auto-clip tech in the Play Soccer system can capture ten second video highlights of stats to combine with video taken from the sidelines. The sensor has an algorithm inside that converts the data into meaningful player insights and that algorithm is made specifically for soccer. The sensor can be inserted into a calf sleeve to secure shin guards or on the player's dominant leg.

"We are committed to helping athletes of all levels learn from and progress at the sports they love to play," said Robin Han, Zepp CEO. "In taking insights from our current products, Zepp Play Soccer creates the first play-specific sensors that will provide detailed data insights, paired with real-time performance highlights, at a level that has otherwise been unavailable to athletes and teams."

The sensor tracks total distance on the field, kicks, kick speed, sprints, max speed, active time, and goal conversion rate. Team using the system can use data to locate players on the field and save other details on the game such as opponents, location, and starting lineup. The sensor has a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope inside. Power is from a lithium ion rechargeable battery good for 40 hours of tracking per charge. It syncs with smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The Zepp Play soccer is available now for $99.99.
