High Dynamic Range support is gradually arriving on mobile devices, now being an option for both Android and iOS fans. Two of the three new iPhone models feature OLED displays capable of showing HDR content and now services are starting to add support for them.

YouTube quietly added the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max to its latest iOS app version, though users will need to update to see it. Once updated, the HDR playback option is listed within the video quality menu, though it doesn't appear that 4K Ultra HD videos can be played back in fulled resolution at this time.

Netflix has similarly added HDR support for certain smartphones with compatible displays; it added the iPhone X to its support list months earlier than YouTube, though it still hasn't added the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The only Apple devices with Netflix Dolby Vision support include the second-generation iPad Pro and the iPhone 8 to iPhone X.
