World of Warcraft gamers sentenced for neglecting kids

Unfortunately, stories about children neglected by parents who become obsessed with a video game aren't unheard of, and latest to the list is a married couple from Anaheim, California. The parents, obsessed with playing World of Warcraft, were arrested and later sentenced for failing to feed and care for their children.

The news comes from KTLA, which reports that Lester Louis Huffmire and Petra Huffmire both plead guilty earlier this month to abusing and imprisoning their two daughters, among other things. The kids were also said to be injured, leading to a harsher sentence.

The abuse was said to have lasted for three years, with both the parents playing WoW while their mobile home fell down around them — the kitchen was said to be full of mold and spider webs, trash, and other nasties.

During this time, both of the kids were trapped at home, not attending school, malnourished, unwashed, and injured. Lester was sentenced to five years in prison, and Petra was sentenced to three years and four months.
