Windows 10 app makes Android photo transfer magic

There's an app out for all users right this minute from Microsoft called "Your Phone." This app allows the user to get photos snapped on a phone over to their PC with the greatest of ease. The fact that this app even has to exist should be fairly embarrassing for someone in the smartphone development process ... but so far nobody's stepped forward in shame.

The "Your Phone" app isn't brand new, but its availability to everyone who has a Windows 10 PC and Android device is new. It's the availability that's changed, not the app itself. The app currently allows a person on a PC to see the photos they've taken on their Android device near-instantly.

All that's needed is the app from the Microsoft Store for Windows 10 and an Android device running a version of Android released in the last couple of years. If you purchased an Android device within the last 3 years or so, you can probably make use of this app. You'll also need an app for your Android device, but that'll be provided to you by the Windows 10 app when the time is right.

Of course, you could also just use Google Photos if you're not all about having to download another new app. Head over to Google dot Photos dot Com on your desktop computer and you'll find all the photos you've taken on your Android device. Unless, of course, you've never opened Google Photos on your phone. Do that first, hit the YES button for photo sync, and let the magic occur.

Your Phone is just one of a wide variety of apps available from Microsoft that ties together Windows 10 and Android. I recommend you have a peek at the Google Play app store under Microsoft Corporation to see what's up. There you'll find a few gems like the Microsoft Launcher, Solitaire, and – shocker – Age of Empires: Castle Siege! Behold the in-app purchases aplenty!
